Why have I chosen to do this?

Menstrual hygiene is a global challenge, and promoting health equity, waste reduction, menstruation education, and women’s quality of living can be greatly enhanced by addressing this through affordable and sustainable solutions.
My motivation came from seeing the streets of Timor-Leste littered with trash, including discarded menstrual supplies. The visible environmental impact reflects larger societal problems, such as the lack of access to and education on sustainability. Additionally, during my childhood, I wasn’t educated about menstruation by my family or teachers, so when I ultimately reached the stage where I acquired my first period, I was disoriented and didn’t know what to do. Because of this, I desire to ensure young girls are well-educated about menstruation so they’ll be prepared for their first time, leading to good menstrual hygiene.
I hope to contribute to raising awareness and driving change at a community level, while aiming to address Sustainable Goals 3 and 12, using this website. Furthermore, due to its contribution to Sustainable Goal 3, this project supports my aspirations of becoming a doctor, allowing me to merge my values and interests with worthwhile causes.

Hello! My name is Reyna, and I'm a 15-year-old girl in 10th grade, attending Dili International School. For my personal interest project, I wanted to do something that can provide women with a way to obtain an affordable, sustainable, and accessible menstrual hygiene product.
